I mean, what if I were to compare the Appleseed CG movies to the OVA from 1988? I wouldn't be wrong to do so, even if they are animated quite differently. It's not really all about the artsyle here. They just didn't have that "oomph" that many a good cinematic has. They set the stage well enough, but there could have been many things done to add more impact to the scenes. I feel like there wasn't an attention to movement that could have or perhaps should have been there in the Torchlight cinematics.Įven had they been animated more to my liking, they lack a certain compelling feel. I watch plenty of anime across a number of different genres and eras (everything from stuff like Megazone 23, to Ikamusume), but this didn't strike me as being all that anime-esque (there was a certain feeling leaning toward that, but not strongly). I like Runic's cinematics, it reminds me of early 80s anime. Thorin you can't really compare the cinematics, it's two different art genres.I'm not sure how I could describe Blizz's cinematics, but simply Runic uses more of a traditional anime style, and that's certainly not an art genre Blizz uses. TL2 is good, but it's cinematics did nothing for me. Blizzard is better at cinematics than Runic.
